Disability Action Yorkshire is a long established charity that provides services that aim to enable disabled people meet their aspirations.
They provide enterprise training for disabled people wishing to become self-employed or get back into employment.
The project is primarily aimed at those who wish to retrain after an accident or illness, as they are aware that this group often struggle to return to their original career path.
The project will provide training for longer term unemployed disabled people who wish to follow a self-employment route or back into employment.
The training will include: developing the mind set and skills required to be a successful entrepreneur, creating a vision and business plan, undertaking market research, developing a robust financial model, pitching a plan and developing a toolkit of skills and techniques required for creative thinking and innovation.
They aim to provide disabled people, in particular those who need a career path following accidents or illness with the skills to follow that path.
The aims and objective of their course are to encourage learners to assess their own personal, social and vocational skills and to gain the confidence to further their career plans and aspirations.
